Cacao Matcha Detox Elixir

Cacao Matcha Detox Elixir

Making myself a hot beverage first thing in the morning feels like greatest act of self love for me. It lets my body know that I’m looking out for it and it puts me in a state of peace the whole ritual of creating an elixir to start my day. This cacao matcha detox elixir is one packed with all the feel good ingredients with energy to support you throughout the day.

What is in this cacao matcha detox elixir?

There are only a few simple ingredients: raw cacao paste, ceremonial matcha powder, ashwagandha, maca, anima mundi happy belly de-bloat + detox powder, forage hyperfoods turkey tail elixir, cinnamon + plant-based milk of your choice.

The cacao + the matcha gives you sustained energy throughout the day. Think of this like a double shot of espresso, but without the cracked out feeling. It makes me feel very clear and focused. Cacao is a good source of iron, magnesium, potassium, protein + fiber. According to WebMD, it also lowers blood pressure, reduces inflammation and reduces the risk of diabetes + heart disease. As for the second energy boosting weapon, matcha. Dr. William Li suggested having green tea, even better matcha, everyday as it reduces your risk of cancer, it protects your DNA and it makes you stress less. Check out his post on why you should be drinking green tea everyday. If you’re not familiar with Dr. William Li’s work, I highly encourage you to check him out. He is one of the leading doctors in the food is medicine space as he leads the Angiogenesis Foundation.

Cacao and matcha can both sit a little heavy on the stomach which is why I included in anima mundi’s happy belly de-bloat + detox powder. This tonic contains herbs that helps boost metabolism, help get-bloat, assists in gut detox and helps fat breakdown. The ingredients included in this are:

  • cranberry
  • gardenia camboia
  • mangosteen
  • cha de bugre
  • ginger
  • hibiscus

Everything in this tonic is wild harvested and organic. In this whole elixir is also ashwagandha it is an adaptogen that balances out stress levels. It works like wonders! Maca is also a mood stabilizers and delivers increases stamina and energy. It also adds a nice nutty taste to the elixir.

The turkey tail is included in to support immunity and gut health. Like all adaptogens, it works when you implement it daily. Paul Stamets, the leading mycologist, gave his mother turkey tail to combat breast cancer. Check out Paul Stamet’s talk on TEDmd. You can also get turkey tail through Paul Stamet’s company, Host Defense. Look at how beautiful turkey tail is before made into tinctures + powders.

Lastly, I added cinnamon as a natural sweetener. Especially necessary as I started a no sugar challenge, check out my blog post here. This and natural sweetness to plant-based milk is what helps soften the elixir. All the ingredients added can be a bit bitter so it’s nice to have something to balance it out.
